iPhone 5 Rumors Simplified (Updated March 26)

It’s that time of the year again; time for rumors of the next iPhone to submerge and fuel the fan’s dreams to own the latest of apple creations. After many hours of digging around I decided to simplify all the rumors into one page which will be updated weekly at first and more often as the release date approaches. These rumors are based on these three things:
Apple’s Past Behavior: Over the past four years apple has revolutionize the smartphone world with each new iPhone, leaving competitors struggling to catch on for about half year. Each year Apple releases a new generation of all its products which are companied by a new iOS update. Also, the same technology is shared each year to the new generations of the iPhone, iTouch, and now the iPad.
Competition: Since Apple only releases one new iPhone a year, and no one but Apple is releasing iPhones, it must overshadow all current competition so that every person who signs up to a two year contract isn’t left with an outdated hardware device within six month. Today Apple’s biggest competition are powerful HTC, Motorola and Samsung phones powered by Google’s Android, meaning what Android does today the iPhone 5 must do.
Common Sense: If Apple is good at something is at making beautiful devices which please the majority of costumers, and often infuriates a minority. Therefore we cannot expect very geeky things but rather simple to use tools and features for the less technology wise market.
March 26 Update
  • Will be released sometime during the summer
  • Will come loaded with iOS 5
  • Will be available on ATT and Verizon from day one
  • Will have the A5 chip 1GHz dual-core that the iPad sports: Two times faster CPU and nine times faster GPU than previous A4
  • Will have a larger screen: Possibly 4 in but keeping its same length to width ratio and body size
  • Will be lighter than the iPhone 4
  • Will possibly rid of its home button and opt for more multi-touch gestures: A five-finger pinch will take you to the home screen, this agrees with the larger screen rumor
  • The glass body will be replaced with a unibody aluminum body with a plastic part behind to allow for cellular reception: Possibly shaped like an apple which will glow with new notifications
  • Will have better battery life
  • A 5 mega-pixel back camera and a VGA front-facing camera: 8 mega-pixels is a bit ridiculous unless you are planning to print a 16in by 20in image of your photos + a lower resolution camera allows for a lower price and a VGA camera will allow facetime over a network as higher resolution means more data to send
  • Will have a NFC chip to allow for reading advertisements and process payments
  • A new cloud based service: Google keeps Android user’s contacts, calendar, pictures, music and data on its servers, Apple needs to move on to cloud if it wants to catch up. A free version of mobileme is rumored
  • A new feature which will wow us all
The following images are “leaked” images from the phones manufacturers. If you believe Apple makes the iPhone you are lying to your self here are the actual manufacturers.
